fischertechnik
The fischertechnik learning environment is used for learning and understanding industry 4.0 applications in vocational schools and training as well as for research, teaching and development at universities, in companies and IT departments. The simulation depicts the ordering process, the production process and the delivery process in digitised and networked process steps.
The digitally driven transformation in industrial production has resulted in a closer networking and an advanced information flow on all production levels. The fischertechnik Learning Factory 4.0 mediates the digitalisation activities by simulation and applied learning to be able to find implementation in major style. The fischertechnik Learning Factory 4.0 is a highly flexible, modular as well as economical and robust training and simulation model.

The process:
Environmental Sensor
Environmental influences play a significant role in a factory: So, the humidity and air temperature can make an impact on sensitive technologies, the air quality and the air pressure can severely impair the functioning of the employees or even promote it.
These values are recorded in the Learning Factory 4.0 by the fischertechnik environmental sensor and communicated to the fischertechnik cloud via TXT controller to then be analysed on the dashboard.
USB Camera
An automated production facility demands the potential of remote monitoring: Highly specialised qualified people are often necessary to identify the source of error in a fault. The qualified person can see the entire facility through remote access, using the USB camera and locate the problem. The fault can be eliminated in this way in communication with the workers on site, without requiring the qualified person to be present locally.
Traffic Light
In order to visualise the faults in the modern production facility, traffic light-like lights are mounted: The current status of the Learning Factory 4.0 can be identified at the first glance. In this, the green light stands for undisturbed production, a yellow light for a fault and a red light for the stop of production.Mounted centrally, the traffic light thus helps to quickly identify and rectify problems.
WLAN router
The communication between TXT controllers, fischertechnik cloud and the dashboard requires a connection to the internet, which is why the fischertechnik Learning Factory 4.0 has at its disposal its own WLAN router and hence, its own WLAN network.
Calibration station
The production module suction gripper can be oriented in the Learning Factory 4.0 through the calibration station in a very straightforward way and without any programming effort: A simple joystick controls the suction gripper. In this way, effective working is implemented, without having to take heavy time losses and expenses in troubleshooting.
The learning factory 4.0 is controlled by the 9V-based fischertechnik TXT controller; its six units are installed.
These are networked within the factory and communicate with each other via MQTT. MQTT (Message Queuing Telemetry Transport) is an open message protocol that enables the transmission of data in the form of messages between devices. The most important features are:
Training Factory Industry 4.0 API reference C/C++ library
Introduction TXT Web Server
The software application is written in C/C++ and is loaded on the controller in the ready-to-start status. The corresponding C/C++ library and the API are published on Github: https://github.com/fischertechnik.
This library can be used to write customised C/C++ programs for the learning factory.
The connection to the fischertechnik cloud is established via the WiFi router supplied and integrated into the learning factory.
We recommend using the web browsers such as Chrome or Firefox. The cloud can be used via a personal access that is created once (www.fischertechnik-cloud.com). The cloud servers are located in Germany and ensure that strict European requirements regarding the storage of data are applicable. Personal data is protected in an account with password access that uses extremely secure "OAuth2" industry standard. All data sent to the cloud is transmitted encrypted with certificates (https standard, green lock in web browser).
The dashboard can be accessed and operated via mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones as well as laptops and PCs. It enables platforms to be displayed from three different perspectives:
1) The customer view shows a webshop interface with a shopping cart, where you can order a workpiece and track the current status of the order in the shopping cart. This process is displayed on the interface for the customer so that he/she is informed about the status of his/her order.
2) The process of ordering the raw material is displayed and visualised in the supplier view.
3) The factory status, the production process, the stock, the NFC/RFID reader and the sensor values can be queried in the production view. In addition, the camera that monitors the production line can also be controlled here. All these functions are controlled within a window and actuated via the menu.
Training models in 9V and 24V
Ready-to-assemble, compact training models for simulating real applications - fischertechnik is also highly regarded by engineers and trainers.
The training and demonstration models from fischertechnik are suitable for education, training and industry. Whether it's at the 9V standard voltage or in the worldwide 24V industry standard, fischertechnik supplies a wide range of simulation models tailored to the needs of your choice.
The training models from fischertechnik are the frequently preferred and proven means to plan, program, develop and test industrial controls with the corresponding software in a realistic and cost-effective manner before large investments are made. They are used worldwide in the areas of education, development, simulation and presentation.
For our training models, we provide CAD data on request - these can be further processed up to the digital twin.
The 3D animation shown here was created by Accelerated Solutions GmbH and is for demonstration purposes.
Connections of the flexible and modular fischertechnik system with industry-compatible actuators and sensors as well as controls of leading manufacturers open up almost unlimited possibilities for hardware simulation.
Complicated, technical systems are presented realistically and so perfectly simulated that they are comprehensible to everyone. Large industrial projects can be depicted in the model. This makes the functionality and feasibility clear.
The connections of the flexible and modular fischertechnik system with industrial actuators and sensors as well as the control systems of leading manufacturers open up almost unlimited possibilities for hardware simulation.
The fischertechnik simulation and training models thus open up flexible possibilities for industry, education and schools to test processes and to communicate technical basics easily.
