Data Harvest
Leslie’s cube, insulation, heat along a metal rod, Hershel’s discovery, Stefan-Boltzmann law, residual heat, efficiency of filament lamps, warm and cold-blooded animals, human body heat-loss and disaster victims are just some of the investigations which can be done with this sensor.
Being wireless allows pupils to investigate the IR coming from surfaces inside and out e.g. when looking at heat-loss from buildings and comparing results from their own insulation experiments. It also allows a demonstration such as Leslie’s cube to be set up anywhere in the laboratory.

Measuring Infrared
Measurements can be recorded at three levels using either a Radiance (the intensity of the emitted thermal energy of the source) or Irradiance (the intensity of the incident thermal radiation on the Sensor) range. It has a removable silica glass filter that will block mid and far infrared making the sensor selective for low and high temperature sources.
All warm objects emit infrared radiation, so this sensor can be used to detect the location of a warm item or living organism. When set to its most sensitive ranges it can detect very low IR emissions such as the heat trail left on the bench after you move your hand away.
Practical Teaching
The Wireless Infrared Sensor can be used to investigate a number of scientific experiments such as:

Designed with new and existing customers in mind!
A new Smart Wireless range of science sensors that also function as data loggers in their own right using Bluetooth or USB connectivity. The new Bluetooth wireless sensors include a huge battery life and can be mixed & matched with existing SmartQ Sensors & Data Loggers!
Works with SmartQ
Our wireless sensors can be used in combination with other Smart Wireless Sensors or data loggers in the EasySense range, even more amazingly is that with the addition of a V-Hub sensor link you can continue to enjoy using your existing SmartQ sensors at the same time!
The Power of Smart Wireless
Our Smart Wireless sensors build on the design of our legendary intelligent SmartQ Sensors but adds Bluetooth wireless connectivity allowing users to connect to tablets and mobile phones using the new EasySense2 Software.
Not only do the Smart Wireless Sensors connect to multiple tablets and mobile devices via Bluetooth but they can also connect directly to a desktop computer and be used just like a traditional data logger whilst offering faster data transfer rates.
